KEVIN BOURNE
Kevin Bourne moved to Ottawa in 2009 after being born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Kevin's life in Toronto fuelled his interest in city-buiding, economic development and urbanism.
"I enjoy everything about cities- city-building, urban planning, and local government. I like bold, visionary ideas. I don't like the status quo or mediocrity, and I'm very competitive. For that reason I believe Ottawa should be the best city in the world."
Although born in Canada Kevin has held dual citizenship with Barbados for the past 16 years fueling his deep in Caribbean issues.

Prior to moving to the Capital, Kevin founded and operated a consulting firm assisting small businesses and non-profits with Organizational Development, Policy Development, Communications, and Administration. Through his business he was able to experience a variety of industries from music and financial services to non-profits and faith-based organizations.
His passion for cities came about as he lived and worked all over South Western Ontario, including Mississauga, Richmond Hill, Toronto, Niagara Region and Hamilton.
After moving to the Ottawa Kevin interned as a Communications & Operations Assistant to an MP on Parliament Hill. This allowed me to put my post-secondary education to use. In 2007 I graduated from Glendon College, York University with a BA in Political Science and a Bilingual Certificate in Public Administration & Policy. Kevin now works full-time as a Communications & Policy Advisor in the Senate of Canada.
In my spare time Kevin enjoy volunteering as a camera operator at RogersTV Ottawa and as Canada Editor for CityMayors.com and a blogger for Open File Ottawa writing about urban and municipal issues. Outside of writing and working, he enjoys spending time with his two favourite people- his wife Koliah and son KJ.
